Aerospace & Aviation Production
Alabama's aerospace and aviation industry represents more than 14,000 industry-related jobs and over 300 aerospace companies. The industry ranges from manufacturing specialties to support in fields like air transportation. The state's workforce is as diverse as its production where facilities manufacture work aircraft, aircraft engines, guided missiles and space vehicles.

Aerospace Education
Four Alabama universities offer aerospace degrees, while four Alabama locations provide aviation training including the Alabama Community College System. As a result, these educational institutions create career paths for the state's local workforce, directing talent and manpower to aviation companies located in our state. Course curriculum, certification and four-year degrees are offered in areas including aerospace and mechanical engineering, avionics, composites, computer science and software airframe and power plant certificates.
Growth
Aircraft manufacturing in Alabama is bolstering overall growth within the aerospace industry. In 2022, Airbus announced the addition of a third final assembly line (FAL) at its Mobile factory. The addition will support increased production of its A320 family of single-aisle passenger aircraft. Airbus, a multinational aerospace corporation and the world's largest airliner manufacturer, cites Alabama's world-class labor force as a critical piece in its decision to select Mobile to lead its production rate increase. This commitment has sparked the state's investment in new recruitment and training initiatives, including expanding Alabama's 36,500-square-foot Aviation Training Center to build out the jobs pipeline. These events have set the stage for historic growth in statewide aircraft manufacturing and the aerospace and aviation industry.
