Payton Karr
Project Manager, Statewide
Payton Karr joined Alabama Power in 2021, beginning her career on the Business Intelligence team before moving to the Electric Transportation Strategy team in 2023.
There, she supported customers with charging infrastructure investments, monitored state and federal funding opportunities, and helped secure financial incentives that advanced sustainable growth.
In her current position as a project manager for Economic Development, Karr partners with communities, industries and state agencies to drive impactful projects and recruit new business opportunities across Alabama. Her work focuses on fostering economic growth, supporting business recruitment efforts and ensuring Alabama remains competitive in attracting investment and talent.
Karr earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, a law degree from Cumberland School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from the Brock School of Business at Samford University. Before joining Alabama Power, she practiced real estate law, building a strong foundation in business and community development.
A Birmingham native, Karr chose to build her career in her home state and contribute to Alabama's continued growth. She is involved in the local community through EDAA Young Professionals, The Bell Center, The Junior League of Birmingham and the Rotaract Club of Birmingham. She lives in Crestwood with her husband, Nate, and enjoys spending time with friends and family outside of work
