Joel Watts
Senior Project Manager, Statewide
Joel Watts joined Alabama Power in 2008 as a senior industrial engineer and has since built a strong track record of supporting some of Alabama's largest companies—both existing and new.
Today, he serves as one of Alabama Power's statewide economic development project managers, helping industrial prospects evaluate potential sites and mitigate risk.
With a keen eye for growth opportunities and potential challenges, Watts plays a vital role in supporting business expansion across the state. His career has focused on delivering energy-efficient, cost-effective solutions for companies. He began his journey at Alabama Power's Technology Applications Center, where he conducted energy audits and performance assessments for industrial and commercial clients.
Watts holds a bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from Auburn University. He is a Certified Energy Manager and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children—whether traveling across the U.S., playing outdoors, building puzzles or doing arts and crafts. Watts also stays active through golf, running, mountain biking, hiking and cheering on Auburn football.
I enjoy getting to know the different companies in Alabama and finding ways to strengthen their current foothold in the state and in their industry. Building those relationships are important to me. I take great care to listen to their needs and goals, so I can then go out and help make them happen.
