Patrick Murphy joined Alabama Power’s Economic and Community Development department as a Senior Project Manager in November, 2011. Previously, Murphy was Senior Vice President of Economic Development for the Birmingham Business Alliance. He led all economic development recruiting, business retention and expansion efforts in the seven-county Birmingham metropolitan area. During his tenure with the Birmingham Business Alliance, Murphy worked with numerous Fortune 1000 companies across various business sectors including aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, finance, technology and distribution.
Murphy previously served as vice president of the Metropolitan Development Board where he focused on external recruitment, area business development and project management. Prior to joining MDB, he was in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a commercial real estate broker and site location consultant for the Hart Corporation. Hart specializes in the disposal of industrial properties and the representation of companies looking to locate in the Southeast.
Before the Hart Corporation, Murphy was a project manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia's lead agency for attracting new business investment and encouraging the expansion of existing industry.
Murphy sits on numerous boards of directors for professional and civic organizations. He is a graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. in Finance. He lives in Birmingham with his wife, Kerri, and their four children.
